Cyber War Between China and Philippines

 

 The cyber war between Philippines and China has began.  At first, the website of the University of the Philippine (UP) was defaced last Friday. As they retaliate, a Philippine-based hackers also defaced a Chinese university Website on Saturday.

A group named “Anonymous #OccupyPhilippines” replaced the main page with a picture of their symbol and text saying  “Scarborough Shoal is ours!” It also plays a loud, screaming music in the background.

The group has been involved in similar attacks including Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDOS) attacks leveled against the websites of the Philippine National Police and the National Bureau of Investigation


DDoS is a form of cyber attack used by hacking groups to take down particular websites, which involves overwhelming the website’s server by executing external commands from a number of terminals, subsequently crippling the server indefinitely.

 As stated above, they also defaced a website of a university in China.
